Summary

Afghan National Army soldiers with 1st Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, set up a vehicle checkpoint along a desert road. The soldiers were on a patrol with Marines from 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, when they heard gunfire nearby. The soldiers took the initiative and pushed toward the danger as the Marines followed to lend support if necessary, a testament to the increased security Afghan forces are providing in Nawa.
