Airman 1st Class Matthew Carlson places an aerosurface assembly on a laser joint directed attack munition during a bomb build at the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia, Sept. 2, 2013. The aerosurface assembly provides aerodynamic lift, maneuverability and other necessary flight characteristics. Carlson is a 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron conventional maintenance crew member deployed from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, and a Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., native.
