Alfred Stevens was a British painter and sculptor, born in Blandford Forum, Dorset, England, on 31 December 1817. He is known for his paintings of romantic and historical scenes and his sculptures of mythological figures. Stevens studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, where he won several prizes for his work. He also spent time in Paris, where he was influenced by the French Romantic painters. Stevens' paintings are characterised by their attention to detail and use of light and colour. His sculptures are known for their graceful lines and delicate features. Stevens died on 1 May 1875 in London, England.
