An abandoned Hudson's Bay Post is better than no shelter - N-2002-005-0016
Summary
Original caption: "...soared to heights never before known and an inkling of this seemed to be in the air.
Prospects looked good, Fur, we were told by a passing Indian, was plentiful and we needed money. Our decision was made. We would stay in the old Hudsons Bay Post, making it our Headquarters, even though the walls could be seen through in many places, the mud plaster having fallen away from between the logs. The rood leaked (any that hadn't fallen in) but it was the only place - so we took possession. A creek lay near and on inspection the ice showed mink tracks. Weasel, or Ermine as we called them, were plentiful and whilst out shooting in the woods, we saw Skunk tracks.."
