description

Summary

An Iraqi interpreter helps bridge the language barrier between the U.S. Navy Seabees attached with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 by relaying instructions to the Iraqi army members in Arabic and providing guidance during a cutting evolution at Camp Blue Diamond, Iraq, Nov. 6, 2007. During its deployment, NMCB 1 augmented 6 Seabees to the 7th Division Military Iraqi Transition Team (a joint military organization tasked the Seabees with providing specific expert rate training to members of the Iraqi army). NMCB 1 is currently deployed to several locations in the Middle East, Afghanistan and Micronesia, providing responsive military construction support to U.S. military and coalition operations. NMCB 1 is part of nearly 1,100 Sailors and Marines supporting critical construction efforts in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.
