LOS ANGELES--The Los Angeles Lighthouse, also known as Angel's Gate, is the only lighthouse of its kind in California. Built to withstand heavy seas, its unique structure is steel framed; the first two floors of which are steel plated. The solid design The solid design was challenged in a five day storm in the 1970s. At the end of the heavy storm, Angel's Gate remained standing, suffering only a slight list from the heavy waves that crashed upon it. The 73-foot lighthouse is located at the mounth of Los Angeles' Long Beach Port, the third largest container port in the world.
The collection/dataset uses media from the world's largest public domain source Picryl.com. It is made in two steps - first manually picked, and then, found semi-automatically, with aid of image recognition, it comprises of more than 5,000 images. Everything in the collection is in the public domain, so there is no limitation on the dataset usage - educational, scientific, or commercial.
