ormitory in 1906 theboarding department, which had been growing forseveral years, during which out-of-town pupils hadbeen cared for in some of the homes of the town,was transferred to its own specially preparedquarters, and became one of the features of St.Pauls. Location. Beaufort, a seaport town of 2,500 people, thecounty-seat of Carteret County, is situated on alarge bay facing the Atlantic Ocean, commandingfrom its front a splendid water view. The abund-ant sea-breeze and the proximity of the Gulf streammake the climate delightful all the year round, andas the healthiness of the place has long been well-known, the town is growing in favor both as awinter and a summer resort. In addition to themeans of communication by water, the Norfolk &Southern Railway affords a direct connection withinland points. The U. S. Marine Biological Laboratory, one ofthe finest in the country, is situated at Beaufort,and this brings the school in touch with a greatdepartment of scientific research.

I CATALOGUE OF ST. PAULS SCHOOL. 7 The Buildings and Grounds. The school grounds face on Ann street, occupy-ing almost a block between Orange and Moore,enjoying a south front on the towns chief resi-dence street and getting the benefit of the fineocean breeze. St. Pauls Church, built in 1857, isin the centre of the block, surrounded by theschool buildings and playgrounds, and its presenceemphasizes the opportunity for the deepening ofspiritual life in the school. The school building is situated to the east ofthe church. It is a three-story building built in1900 of North Carolina pine, the interior finishedwith the natural wood under oil, and contains fivelarge class-rooms, equipped with modern desksand the other requisities which add to the efficiencyof the work; a very attractive library, containing3,000 vohimes, though many of the books are ofminor value; a large kindergarten room, wellequipped; a small but attractive music room; anoffice; and the commodious Assembly Hall (on thefir
