Apache Indian woman basket maker in front of her dwelling, ca.1900

A sheaf of straws lays at her side. A bowl of water sits in front of her. She is wearing a plaid shirt and a print dress. Her short hair is cropped above her shoulders. She is barefoot. A small wood and thatched shelter sits at right. Several household objects sit nearby and on a small table directly behind her including a tarp or blanket, clothing, a box (which reads "Schilling's best"), pails, etc. A few small scraggley trees and brush are visible behind her at right.
