Summary
The Apollo–Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) was the first international manned spaceflight, carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975. The mission involved the docking of an American Apollo spacecraft with a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft, allowing the two nations to conduct joint scientific experiments and demonstrate the feasibility of international space cooperation. The mission was considered a success and marked a significant step forward in the thawing of Cold War relations between the US and the Soviet Union.
