Army 2nd Lt. Jean Leimkuhler checks with an Afghan national policeman during a tactical movement exercise to see what is up ahead. Leimkuhler is a member of a Police Mentoring Team and works with these officers from Zhari district. He is assisting with phase three of the Focused District Development program, where their entire district is reorganized, reequipped and retrained during an eight-week training course. The courses are taught by U.S. military, U.S. contractors and Afghan police instructors at eight Regional Training Centers throughout Afghanistan. Leimkuhler and the ANP officers will return to Zhari after completing the course, where he and his team will continue to mentor them.
