Army Reserve gets the water out
Summary
Sgt. Willie Fields, water treatment specialist, 410th Quartermaster Detachment, Jacksonville, Fla., observes water removal operations in front of a 600-gallon-per-minute pump, Nov. 11, that is pumping water from areas most effected in Breezy Point, N.Y. The water is channeled across hundreds of meters of beach from residential areas and out to sea. Army Reserve soldiers conducting water removal operations as a result of Hurricane Sandy in Breezy Point, N.Y., have helped hundreds of local residents here by getting the water out. The Army Reserve units are deployed to the area under the National Defense Authorization Act 2012 and are in direct support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state and local officials.
