Robert French - Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran?
Summary
The triumphant pose of the figure above those boulders reminded Morning Mary of the old tonguetwister. Shot by Mr. French on a cabinet sized camera it would appear to be in a not so accessible position at Carrignagat, Collooney, County Sligo...This monument, dedicated to 1798 leader Bartholomew Teeling ( Bartholomew_Teeling ) commemorates actions at the Battle of Collooney ( Battle_of_Collooney ) . Built by sculptors Harrison & Sons of Great Brunswick St, Dublin, our contributors tell us that the Teeling Monument ( http://www.sligotown.net/the-teeling-monument.shtml?i=2 ) was unveiled on the battle's centenary - 1898. Helping refine the 50 year catalogue range to a 15 year period in the late 1890s or 1900s.......Photographer: Robert French..Collection: Lawrence Photograph Collection ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000313414 ) ..Date: Catalogue range c.1865-1914.
