Summary

A castle gate is open. The photograph taken from the open gate shows the slowly emerging new face of the old city: Apartment blocks are rising on the side of Anafartalar Boulevard, Işıklar Boulevard and Konya Street. Farther away one can see the building of Central Bank, Belvü Palas and the stadium. From the gateway we are watching a part of the new Ankara....Ankara Kalesi’nden kentin görünümü, 1937..Kaleden bir kapıyı açık tutmuşlar. Açık kapıdan çekilen fotoğrafta, eski kentin yavaş yavaş yeni yüzünün ortaya çıkışı görülüyor. Anafartalar Caddesi, Işıklar Caddesi, Konya Sokak taraflarında apartmanlar yükseliyor. Daha ileride Merkez Bankası binası, Belvü Palas.Ve stadyum. Yeni Ankara’nın bir kısmını seyrediyoruz kapı aralığından.

A collection is reflecting the urbanisation processes of Ankara, a capital of Republic of Turkey, between 1930-1960 through the eyes of photographers whose works took place in the archive of Directorate General of Press and Information. Within the framework of this archive, we have collected photos starting from the Ankara Railway Station, followed by various boulevards which finally arrive at Çankaya.
