Birch Creek Historic Ranch, Owyhee Wild and Scenic River (21904572213)
Summary
The site of the Birch Creek Historic Ranch on the Owyhee Wild and Scenic River serves multiple uses: floating launch; fishing hole; photographer’s dream landscape; camping locale; hiking; wildlife viewing; and much more.
The ranch was founded in 1900 and purchased by the BLM in 1988 in order to preserve the remarkable site along the wild and scenic Owyhee River.
An excerpt from a BLM website on the history of the ranch describes the scenery:
Its green fields contrast strongly with the sun-drenched cream- and chocolate-colored formations and the red and black volcanic rocks that soar up from the edges of its narrow meadows. Prepare yourself for an astonishing, world-class beauty that changes through the day.
