METAIRIE, La. - Capt. Peter Gautier (back row left) takes part in the presentation of a Blue Star Memorial with other servicemembers, the Jefferson Parish Council of Garden Club and Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng (right of Gautier), Nov. 10, 2011. The Blue Star Memorial Program began with the planting of 8,000 Dogwood trees by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs in 1944 as a living memorial of World War II.
