PACIFIC OCEAN (Jul. 20, 2018) Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Nicholas Poole, from Vancleave, Miss., signals an MH-60S helicopter assigned to the "Black Knights" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 4 while conducting a vertical replenishment aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) during a replenishment-at-sea from the auxiliary dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Charles Drew (T-AKE 10) for Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, July 20, 2018. Twenty-five nations, more than 45 ships and submarines, and about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world's oceans.
