Ernest Mervyn Taylor (1906–1964) was a notable New Zealand engraver, commercial artist, and publisher. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1906 but primarily lived and worked in Wellington, New Zealand until his death at the age of 58. Taylor’s career aligned him with the Arts and Crafts movement in England and the Bauhaus movement in Germany. He was prolific in book production and illustration. He received 11 commissions for murals, which he produced using a wide range of media and techniques including paint, sand-blasting, wood-incising, and ceramic tiles. Taylor completed a number of murals towards the end of his career.
