Border (France), 1800–1820 (CH 18476647)

Against a striped background pattern, wide band of this two-band border design contains an oval escutcheon alternating with a cartouche which is formed by scalloped acanthus-leaf frame. Cartouche contains stemmed acorns flanking a rosette. The narrow band consists of classically-inspired acanthus cups enclosing half-hidden egg shapes. Bottom edge is dentilled.
