British Medical Services in the Second World War
The Medical Chain of Evacuation: Medical Officer Captain Parfitt and his orderly administer an emergency plasma transfusion to a serious casualty outside a tented Field Dressing Unit (FDS) established in the grounds of a country house near Oostemalle in Belgium, October 1944. The FDS was acting as an Advanced Surgical Unit. The units attached comprise No 37 and No 48 Field Surgical Units and No 14 Field Transfusion Unit.
