Summary
Amazingly, the broad-tailled hummingbird (Selasphorus platycercus) is actually a medium-sized hummingbird at nearly 4 inches in length. Both sexes have irridescent green backs, crowns and as well as a white breast. However, males have a throat patch (gorget) that shines a brilliant irridescent pink/red and a predominantly-black tail.
