Bull snake in a defensive posture

Bull snakes will attempt to mimic rattlesnake behavior by flattening their head, tightening their neck to give them an appearance of a diamond-shaped head like a rattlesnake, and rustle their tail in dry grass or leaves to make a rattling sound.
