Buras, La., May 14, 2013 -- Buras High School and Port Sulphur High School Science Building were consolidated into one, South Plaquemines High School following Hurricane Katrina. FEMA provided $50,604,791.66 to fund construction of the new facility, which is elevated 19 feet above grate to meet DFIRM requirements and has two classroom wings and a gym/auditorium and cafeteria wing.
