Laszlo Mednyanszky (1852—1919) a painter-philosopher, is one of the most enigmatic figures in the history of Hungarian art. The main theme of Mednyanzky's work was landscape, and the most frequent subject of his work was portraits, often images of ordinary people who lived in the same place as the artist. Laszlo Mednyanszky is considered one of the greatest painters of both Hungary and Slovakia. The largest collections of his works are in the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest and in the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava, where the collection of the artist's heirs was transferred.
