Adesina Aladetohun, Officer Selection Officer for Marine Corps Recruiting Station Baton Rouge, and native of Detroit, Mich., speaks with James Rowley, Residential Living Coordinator for the Honore Center for Undergraduate Student Achievement of Southern University, during the Career Fair and Empowerment Exchange in the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, La., Nov. 29, 2013. The Marines participating in the career fair were able to talk with students and community members about career options within the armed services and demonstrate the viability of military service as an option within the African American community. The career fair focused on the health and wellness as well as career planning for the future.The Marines presence at the career fair as well as the Bayou Classic as a whole is part of the Marine Corps larger effort to reconnect and strengthen its relationship with Historically Black colleges and Universities as it continues to build leaders and attract qualified African American officer candidates.
