SATTAHIP, Thailand (May. 20, 2011) Capt. David Welch, commander of Task Group 73.1, right, and Royal Thai navy Rear Adm. Chaiyot Sundaranaga, commander of Frigate Squadron 2, report the results of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Thailand 2011 during the closing ceremony of the training exercise. U.S. and Thai sailors and smarines participated in medical and community service programs, at sea training and an amphibious assault. CARAT 2011 is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness.
