Capt. Jerod Tufte (foreground), of Bismarck, N.D., and 1st Lt. Robert Meland, also of Bismarck, start the Lincoln National Guard Marathon May 6, 2012, in Nebraska. They are two of seven North Dakota National Guard members who qualified to compete with the state team. Two North Dakota Guardsmen, Tufte and Staff Sgt. Amy Wieser Willson, went on to qualify for the elite All-Guard Marathon Team during the race.
