Cave cricket (Rhaphidophoridae), Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve, 2016.
Summary
Cave crickets are known by many common names, including camelback crickets, camel crickets or spider crickets. Most cave crickets have large hind legs, as in this photo. These large limbs aid the cricket in its dark habitat, where it must rely heavily on its sense of touch. True to the common name, cave crickets are commonly found in caves or old mines but will also inhabit other cool, damp environments like rotten logs, stumps and hollow trees.
