Japan signed the Instrument of Formal Surrender in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2, 1945, on the decks of the Missouri. A plaque marks the exact location of the surrender and copies of the original documents are displayed on the "Surrender Deck" for visitors around the world to see when they visit the memorial.
