Chapel 1 at Randolph AFB, located close to building 100, better known as the Taj Mahal, was begun on 25 September 1933 and completed on 29 July 1934. In designing the chapel there was a deliberate plan to combine the architecture of famous old San Antonio missions, San Jose and Conception, with a conventional Romanesque interior
