Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuel) Hawa Jenkins (left), a recruit division commander (RDC), instructs Seaman Recruit Cohlena Jones-Tipton, from Salem, Ore., on proper hair grooming standards. Female recruits arriving to RTC after Jan. 1 are participating in a hair pilot program through March, allowing leadership the opportunity to evaluate the option of foregoing an initial haircut for females and having the recruits' RDCs teach them proper hair grooming standards before entering the fleet.
