Chief petty officers and chief petty officer selects assigned to Navy Information Operation Command and Maritime Expeditionary Security Force from Naval Amphibious Base Coronado run 11 miles to honor the lives that were lost during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. For the past six years chiefs and chief selects from these command have come together on Patriot’s Day to run on Silver Strand Beach on Coronado. This was a special run to pay tribute on the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The 11 mile run began at 0600 from Gator Beach at the Naval Amphibious Base.
