Bush (CVN 77), trim a hedge at the home of retired Army Master Sgt. Loren “Woody” Hoercher during a community service project. Eight chief selects assigned to George H.W. Bush completed various landscaping tasks at Hoercher's home as part of the six-week chief petty officer induction phase. Hoercher is a member of the Anzio Beachhead Veterans of World War II and the liaison to the guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio (CG 68), which served as part of the George H.W. Bush carrier strike group in 2011. George H.W. Bush is undergoing a planned incremental availability at Norfolk Naval Shipyard to refurbish shipboard systems and conduct maintenance.
