Chuckwalla (6100827531)
Summary
The chuckwalla (Sauromalus obesus) can reach lengths of up to 16 inches. Surprisingly, this large lizard feeds primarily on a diet of leaves, buds, flowers, and fruits. Preferred habitat for this large lizard is throughout the rocky lava fields of the park where it can more easily avoid capture by inflating itself in rock crevices. NPS Photo/Jonathan Fortner
