description

Summary

Djibouti navy officers discharge a fire hose off the deck of USS Germantown during a damage control training scenario while underway in the Gulf of Aden. Germantown hosted coalition navy officers from Djibouti, Seychelles, and Yemen for a four day training session on ship maintenance, visit board search and seizure techniques, damage control procedures, and other aspects of shipboard operations while underway in the Gulf of Aden. Germantown is part of the USS Tarawa Expeditionary Strike Group and is currently conducting Maritime Security Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. MSO helps set the conditions for security in the maritime environment. From security arises stability that results in global economic prosperity. MSO complements the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
