Col. Heath Roscoe, center left, commander of the 36th Engineer Brigade, out of Fort Hood, Texas, visits Soldiers of the 615th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, 36th Eng. Bde., out of Fort Carson, Colorado, to see their progress on repairing the Freeport Road near the port, Monrovia, Liberia, Jan. 14, 2015, in support of Operation United Assistance. Sgt. Joel Miick, center right, an Austin, Texas, native, and a surveyor briefed Roscoe on the improvements of the road. Miick said the roads will be accessible to safely transport vehicles to and from the port. All Soldiers wore protective masks to prevent them from inhaling harmful debris and particles from the dirt and gravel. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
