Col. Tenise Gardner stands at attention as her sons, Ryan (left) and Evan Gardner, pin on the rank of colonel as her husband, Dr. William Gardner, observes Jan. 11, 2015, during her promotion ceremony held at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Fort Smith, Ark. Gardner first enlisted in the 188th in 1987 as an information manager and received her commission in 1991.
