Castillo de San Marcos - Confederate Sword
Summary
This short sword was originally labeled by the St. Augustine Historical Society as "Spanish sword from Matanzas," found in 1863, but curators now state that it is of French or Confederate origin, "likely Confederate due to poor workmanship." Lab reports show that the sword was exposed to a fire, which was likely the 1914 fire that destroyed much of the Historical Society's collection.
