Tumacacori national historical park - Convento Fragment
Summary
The standing ruin of a fragment of the convento includes the rooms in which the priest is likely to have lived. These rooms have seen much use, both during the mission era and afterward. After the mission residents left, it was used as a house by various people and was even used as a school in the 1930's during the administration of the first resident superintendent at Tumacácori National Monument. Probably the most extensive use the convento residence ever saw was when five priests stayed here for eight days while waiting for the Anza Expedition to leave Tubac between Sunday, October 15 and Monday, October 23, 1775.
