Cpl. Leon, a native of Brooklyn, New York, enlisted from recruiting substation Flatbush before leaving for basic training in June of 2015. The Marines trained at JWTC to prepare for an upcoming patrol of the Indo-Pacific region as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
