Prior to joining the Marine Corps in 2014, Coronel worked as a server and cook in his home town of Towson, Maryland.
“I joined the Marines to give my life a better direction,” Coronel said. “I didn't want to keep working multiple jobs at home. So, I figured the best way to get out of town was to join the Marine Corps.”

Coronel joined 1/10 in April of 2016, leads his Marines by setting the example through discipline and a strong bond with his Marines.
“Motivation is all about discipline, stick to what you do every day, and do it to the best of your abilities,” said Coronel. “At the end of the day, motivation is just discipline.”
Cpl. Colonel was selected as the 2d Marine Division Motivator of the week for his extraordinary willingness to help others and his tireless drive to win. He has been instrumental in the transformation of the quality of the 1/10 motor pool as well as saving his unit an estimated $40,000 all while exponentially improving readiness.
