CUTTER SPAR (FOR RELEEASE), Alaska
Summary
KODIAK, Alaska (April 18, 2006)--The crew of the Coast Guard cutter SPAR returns to the pier after going through their ready for sea trial in Woman?s Bay near Coast Guard base Kodiak. The crew has been in dry-dock for several weeks and needed to practice their skills before returning to sea in the next few weeks. The crewmen performed several drills inside the ship and practiced working a buoy. The SPAR?s crew maintains buoys and aids-to-navigation and conducts Homeland Security, Maritime Law Enforcement, defense operations and search and rescue assistance. USCG photo by PA3 Christopher D.
