Dallas native a Marine Corps drill instructor on Parris Island

description

Summary

Staff Sgt. Jesus Rubalcado currently serves as a Marine Corps drill instructor with Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Rubalcado joined the Marine Corps in January 2001 and became a drill instructor in August 2013. “I became a drill instructor to give back to the Marine Corps. I’ve been in for 12 years already. The Marine Corps has been good to me, so it’s time to return the favor. It’s a good feeling [to know] I’ll have an impact on so many lives in a three-month span,” said Rubalcado, a Dallas native. About 600 Marine Corps drill instructors shape the approximately 20,000 recruits who come to Parris Island annually into basic United States Marines. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
