Summary

While I believe that this scene was visited before, I think it was not in the Stereo Pairs format nor was it of this quality! This outstanding image with so much going on is always worth a second visit...And so it was confirmed that we've visited this spot on Devonshire/Grattan Square in Dungarvan previously. Not just once in fact, but twice before - once on a much busier day with French/Lawrence ( ...nlireland/22567080925/ ) , and once with our left-eye closed to the STP ( ...nlireland/7981923330/ ) . As BeachcomberAustralia ( /photos/beachcomberaustralia/ ) points-out however, with both eyes open, and the Megazoom version ( vtls000565633 ) now available, additional detail might come to light. With Niall McAuley ( /photos/gnmcauley/ ) for example spotting mention of Thomas McCarthy on one of the posters - and identifying some likely candidates ( http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/results.jsp?searchMoreVisible=&census_year=1901&surname=mccarthy&firstname=thomas&county19011911=Waterford&houseNumber=&ded=dungarvan&search=Search ) ......Photographers: Frederick Holland Mares, James Simonton..Contributor: John Fortune Lawrence..Collection: Stereo Pairs Photograph Collection ( #//catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000034077 ) ..Date: between ca. 1860-1883..NLI Ref: STP_2313 ( vtls000565633 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
