WASHINGTON, D.C. (Mar. 30, 2007) Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England meets with "Why We Serve" military speakers at the Pentagon, prior to their 90-day tour. Why We Serve is an outreach program designed to assist communities in locating uniformed members of the Armed Forces to speak about the nobility of service and share their personal experiences with the American people.
Community organizations, business associations, academic institutions, veterans groups, and other non-profit or non-partisan organizations requesting a speaker from Why We Serve can look forward to hearing from a service member who has recently returned from Afghanistan, Iraq or the Horn of Africa.
