Girolamo Genga was an Italian Renaissance painter and architect. He was born around 1476 in Urbino, Italy. Genga was a pupil of Timoteo Viti, who was a famous painter at the court of Urbino. He also studied with Francesco Francia in Bologna. Genga worked in various cities in Italy, including Urbino, Rome and Pesaro. He was famous for his frescoes, altarpieces and portraits. His style was influenced by Raphael and Michelangelo, and he was considered one of the leading artists of the High Renaissance. In addition to his work as a painter, Genga was also an architect. He designed several buildings in Urbino, including the Palazzo Ducale, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Genga died in Urbino in 1551. His works can be seen in museums and galleries around the world, including the Louvre in Paris and the National Gallery in London.
