Summary
Earth dams and hastily constructed sandbag barriers built along the Missouri River in an attempt to hold back the rising waters along the South Dakota-Iowa border. National Guard soldiers from South Dakota, Illinois and Iowa have been placed on state active duty to assist local and state authorities in western Iowa and southeast South Dakota to protect private properties and municipalities along the swollen Missouri River.
