Emotion shows on the faces of some of the Swindle family as family and soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division bow there heads at a memorial ceremony held for Sgt. Jason Swindle at the Warrior’s Walk here Jan. 17. From right to left John (brother), Sam (brother), Jerry (father), and Joy (mother). The Warrior’s Walk is lined with Eastern Redbud trees, each one dedicated to a 3rd ID soldier fallen in combat. Today’s dedication marked the 444th tree dedicated in such a manner. The tree was dedicated in honor of the ultimate sacrifice made by Sgt. Swindle, who was a native of Cabot, Ark., and a Soldier with Company B, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID. Sgt. Swindle was killed in action on Sept., 20, 2012 when he, along with his platoon, was hit by enemy small arms fire while conducting security operations in Panjwai, Afghanistan.
