Energy drinks mistaken for healthy, helpful
Summary
Excessive sugar, which is found in many energy drinks, spikes insulin levels for a brief amount of time giving the body energy. When the sugar is used up, insulin levels drop drastically, causing fatigue, which is also known as an energy ‘crash,’ according to Petty Officer 2nd Class Jennifer L. Bell, a corpsman at Evans Branch Medical Clinic at Camp Foster.
