Family and friends line the streets of Parris Island, S.C., in support of their new Marines during the motivational run of Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, on Oct. 3, 2013. This was the first chance for most families and friends to see their new Marine in more than 12 weeks. Mike and November Companies are scheduled to graduate Oct. 4, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
