Father and son at Inniscara, Cork, Ireland
Summary
A proud father and son on a day out in 1958 at Inniscara, County Cork. O'Dea documented the destruction, or to use a much used word these days, the 'deconstruction' of Ireland's railway system. It went from a complex spiders web that provided services to most parts of the island, to the few remaining main lines that struggle to survive today......With thanks to various inputs today, the general consensus is that this image was captured just below Inniscarra Dam ( Inniscarra_Dam ) - looking south and east towards Curraghbeg. Details of the McCarthy clan unconfirmed- but it is undoubtedly a very common name in this area of Cork.......Photographer: James P. O'Dea..Collection:James P. O'Dea ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000148612 ) ..Date: September 1958..NLI Ref.: ODEA 7/48 ( vtls000303832 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
